Data Vortex Names Ryan Hurst President

April 21, 2026 – Data Vortex Technologies this week announced the appointment of Ryan Hurst as President. Hurst joins the company full-time after collaborating over the past year as an AI strategic business consultant, as well as an investor and advisor.

Hurst brings more than 20 years of leadership experience as a founder and senior finance and operations executive across private and public companies. Throughout his career, he has focused on identifying and advancing next-generation technologies and market inflection points, helping organizations navigate rapid change and capitalize on emerging opportunities. He maintains deep global relationships and a proven track record guiding companies through business and corporate development.

“This is a pivotal moment for the company as we expand beyond building systems for federal customers to serve the broader industry,” said Hurst. “This expansion addresses the growing challenge of balancing performance demands with energy efficiency. We are prepared to solve the sparse, unstructured data problems that current network technologies cannot handle efficiently.”

Before formally stepping into the President role, Hurst was actively engaged with Data Vortex’s technical and business teams, contributing to strategic discussions and working closely with leadership to align execution with emerging opportunities. His early involvement reflects a hands-on approach and commitment to accelerating the company’s momentum.
Prior to joining Data Vortex, Hurst served as Treasurer at Motiv Power Systems, Inc., where he joined the founding team in 2013. During his tenure, he led more than $350 million in institutional capital raises, helping the company pioneer the medium-duty commercial electric vehicle market and serve ten of the top twenty fleets in North America.

Earlier in his career, Hurst was Founder and CEO of Liber, LLC from 2000 to 2014, and later served as Co-founder and Development Partner at Blackhorn Ventures from 2015 to 2017. In these roles, he led a wide range of business and corporate development initiatives across industries spanning finance to engineering-based companies.

Hurst has also held multiple public service appointments as a Colorado resident. He received four gubernatorial appointments, including selection to the Regional Air Quality Council’s Board of Directors for consecutive three-year terms beginning in 2019 and again in 2022. He was also appointed to the Colorado Energy Office’s $300 million Community Access Enterprise Board of Directors, serving consecutive terms since its inception in 2021 with reappointment in 2024.

“We are at an inflection point for Data Vortex, where decades of invention meet the demands of modern data systems and the realities of power in the data center. The future of AI will be defined not just by compute, but by how efficiently data moves, and Data Vortex was built for that future,” said Carolyn Reed, Executive Chair of Data Vortex Technologies.

“Ryan brings the discipline, technical depth, and respect for this legacy to move us forward. With his leadership, we are positioned to translate that vision into meaningful impact at scale. Coke and I have worked with Ryan for many years and deeply respect his judgment, integrity, and leadership. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in this next chapter.”
